Working Software, Inc. was incorporated in October 1985 as Greene, Johnson Inc. The name was changed on March 1, 1987 and reflects a commitment to provide useful, supported, quality products and service to the customer.
Working Software’s current products are Toner Tuner, QuickLetter, Spellswell 7, Lookup, Writeswell Jr., Findswell, Last Resort, the Spellswell Medical Dictionary, Legal Dictionary, Science Dictionary, Geographical Dictionary, Business Dictionary, and Expanded Dictionary.
All Spellswell dictionaries are compatible with Spellswell, Lookup, QuickLetter 2.0, ExpertWriter and any other program containing Working Software spelling checkers.
Spellswell won the 1986 MacUser Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award for Best New Standalone Spelling Checker. Findswell won the 1987 MacUser Magazine Editor-In-Chief’s Award. In 1989 all of Working Software's programs (Spellswell, Findswell & Lookup) were rated 5-mice by MacUser Magazine at one time, the only company to achieve this distinction before or since.

In addition to the Working Software’s commitment to product quality is a commitment to customer service. Customers who send in a registration card receive Hard Working Times, a periodic newsletter which provides useful Macintosh tips as well as information on product upgrades (direct-mail customers are automatically registered). Minor upgrades are available to customers at no charge. Major upgrades are available for a small fee.
